June 2017 Phase One Construction Completion!
Around 5:00 p.m. on June 15, 2017, the Holmvig Excavating construction crew pulled away from the construction site at the dam with their equipment in tow. Phase One of our new Fish Passage project has been completed!
As promised, the breach in our old rock dam was sealed at the conclusion of Phase One construction, so we should have a usable lake again very soon. Current lake levels will rise further as soon as the temporarily low Pine River Dam outflows are increased. Remember, however, that our lake level is still being controlled by a 50-year old dam until Phase Two of the Fish Passage project is in place.
We should celebrate the substantial progress and significant improvement that’s been made, but please remember that the largest and most important part of the project is still to come.
Plan to join us Saturday morning, June 17, at the Cedar Chest Restaurant at 9:30 a.m. to get an update on the current status of the entire project by Project Manager, Beth Hippert, of the Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District.
Why speculate or entertain groundless rumors? Come as you are to the Project Update Meeting this Saturday morning and get the straight scoop from the Project Manager!
