June 17, 2017 Fish Passage and Dam Modernization Project Update Meeting

Construction is now in progress on Phase One of the Pine River Fish Passage and Dam Modernization Project that will temporarily allow a usable lake and ultimately replace our rock dam.  If you would like to learn more about the plans and status of this important, grant-funded project, please plan to attend a one hour Project Update Meeting hosted by the Big Pine Lake Association’s Social Committee at the Cedar Chest Restaurant on the west end of Big Pine Lake, beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 17.

The brief agenda will feature a presentation by the Project Manager, Beth Hippert, of the Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District and will cover the status of both implementation phases.  A question and answer session will follow Beth’s presentation.  Coffee and refreshments will be available for all.

As mentioned in the most recent BPLA update, the access road and construction site are currently closed to unauthorized individuals and vehicles.  If Phase One construction is complete and access restrictions have been lifted, anyone interested in viewing the progress to date can drive or car pool to the dam site after the meeting at the Cedar Chest.

Please plan to join us to celebrate our progress so far, learn the plans for Phase 2 implementation and show our lake community’s continuing support for this important project.

We hope to see you there!
